Mariam Aslamazyan. The stories of the sunny colours

It is a great honor for us to present the 20th century social modernism and one of the most famous soviet artists Mariam Alsamazyan’s “The stories of the sunny colours” exhibition at the Moscow’s “State museum of oriental art of Moscow”.

The base of Mariam Aslamazyan’s “painting stories” is the sun, the life with its vital and exciting contrasts, rhythms and shades, multilayer cultural symbols, which turn our everyday life into unique and legendary experiences. Mariam’s stories are monumental stories with unique approach combined with of household items and eastern spirit, with interchangeable human and nature dynamic relationship. In order to truly appreciate the artist’s works, the aesthetic approaches and the cultural heritage left for us, we need to specifically prioritize Mariam Aslamazyan’s activity as a cultural public figure. A person, who devoted all her life to art and via education, supported the progressive tendencies to develop soviet and in particular the Armenian culture. Mariam Aslamazyan is an artist, whose cultural activity can become an example on how one excited and enthusiastic person can change human egoism and make the cultural system better, where she exists.

Mariam Aslamazyan’s “The stories of the sunny colors” project is a unique gesture of respect to the talented artist, whose works after the 20 year of pause are being exhibited in Moscow. 34 paintings, graphic and clay works chosen specifically for this project were created from 1930-80s and are taken from “The Gallery of Mariam and Eranuhi Alsamazyan sisters” (Gyumri, Armenia), “The state museum of oriental art of Moscow”, “The State Tretyakov gallery” and private collections.

I would like to mention, that fact of founding the “Mariam and Eranuhi Alsamazyan sisters’ gallery” in 1987 shows Mariam Aslamazyan’s great cultural patriotism as a cultural figure. Mariam Aslamazyan with her sister Yeranuhi decided to donate the biggest and most famous collection to their home town Leninakan (now Gyumri) and founded a unique gallery in Transcaucasia, the activity of which is an important impetus for preserving and the development of the cultural life.
