Eranuhi Aslamazyan

Eranuhi Aslamazyan with her art has paid great attention to the human emotional state, attached importance to the work.

The art of the talented artist Eranuhi Aslamazyan, who has left bright trace in the 20th century Armenian fine art, is full of high taste, organized with restrained, gentle colour transitions, rich with vital-philosophical layers where she has tried to reveal even the shadows of the layers. Eranuhi Aslamazyan with her art has paid great attention to the human emotional state, attached importance to the work. Her motives are as if constantly repeated, but every time pursued new creative problems and themes that suggest new solutions, the aim of which are not to make the audience to leap to the conclusion, but let them think.

The national artist of the USSR Eranuhi Aslamazyan was born on the 15th of April 1910 in Bash-Shirak village of Kars region. She lived in Leninakan until 1927-1928 and then long years in Moscow. On the formation of the drawing talent influenced Alexandrapol Painting Studio (pedagogues Yul.Varjbickaya, Yel.Patkanyan), Yerevan Artistic-Production Collage (teachers S.Arakelyan, S.Aghajanyan), Moscow VKhutemas (teachers S.Drevin, M.Larionova, B.Mukhina, K.Petrov-Vodkin), Leningrad Academy of Fine Arts (A.Osmyorkin, A.Savinov).

E.Aslamazyan died in 1988, on the 4 th of February and is buried in Moscow.

The works of E.Aslamazyan are conserved in numerous museums: London, Sofia, Berlin, Leningrad, Venice, Tokyo, Delhi and etc..

Awards and titles

In 1910 she was born in Bash-Shirak village (Leninakan Region of Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic).
1924-1926 She studied in Leninakan painting school under the guidance of Yul.I.Verjbickaya.
1926-1928 She studied in Yerevan Artistic-Production Collage. Teachers: S.Arakelyan, S.Aghajanyan).
1931-1937 She studied in Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of All-Russian Academy of Аrts. The lecturers: P.S.Naumov, V.M.Oreshnikov, A.A.Osmerkin. She graduated with honor.
1937 She was entered into the “Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists” and started to take part in the exhibitions organized by the “Artists’ Council” of Yerevan, Leningrad and Moscow.
1938 She realized 6 panels for the pavilion of the ASSR in Moscow All-Union agricultural exhibition (jointly with M.Aslamazyan).
1938-1941 She taught painting and composition in Leningrad Young Workers’ Institute of Fine-art. She constantly lived in Leningrad.
1941-1942 She lived isolated in Chkalov and worked in the sphere of theatrical-decorative art (She designed the performance of V.A.Solovyov “Field marshal Kutuzov”) and the book illustration.
1943 She lived and worked constantly in Moscow.
1945 She was awarded a medal “For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”.
1956 She got gratitude from the Committee of Soviet Women for the participation in the exhibition to the International Seminar “Women's Equality in USSR”.
1957 She got gratitude from the “Moscow Union of Soviet Artists” for the participation in the exhibition of Woman-Artists’ works organized on the initiative of Soviet Women Committee on the theme “Women Legal Equality in USSR” and the role of the soviet women in the cultural development of USSR. She got gratitude from the Soviet Preparatory Committee VI of World Youth and Student Festival for the active participation in the implementation of “Girls’ Holiday”.
1958 She began to work in ceramics.
1959 She traveled around Europe by motor ship (Belgium, Holland, Italy, Turkey and France) creating a series of etudes and travel sketches.
1961 A trip to India and Ceylon creating pictures and watercolour paintings.
1962 Tourist trip to Egypt creating a series of travel etudes and sketches.
1963 She was awarded diploma of Painting Art Center of Moscow branch of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic for the best work of 1963 – “Ararat” panel, created for the club of “Vardanik” collective farm. It was implemented jointly with M.Aslamazyan.
She was a correspondent in the World Congress of Women in Moscow (24-29 July, 1963).
A trip to Japan: creation of a series of watercolour paintings and drawings.
1964 She got a letter of appreciation from the presidium of Moscow branch Artists’ Union of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and the Party Group of Moscow Regional Artists' Union for the active participation of carrying out fine art week in 1964.
1965 She was awarded the title of national artist of ASSR.
Creative business trip to Italy organized by the Culture Ministry of USSR: creation of a series of etudes and sketches.
1966-1984- Executive committee member of Society “USSR – Sri Lanka” of the Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
1967 She was awarded a diploma of the Organizing Committee for the anniversary exhibition “Moscow Artists-the 50th Anniversary of October”.
1970 She was awarded a diploma of Moscow Regional Artists' Union of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic for the participation of anniversary exhibition of the Moscow artists dedicated to the 100th anniversary of V.I.Lenin.
1971 She was awarded a diploma of the Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries for the active participation in the activities of the development and reinforcement of friendly and cultural connections between the nations of Soviet Union and Ceylon.
1973 A trip to Kama with the creative group of aquarellists: Perm, Chedrin, Sloikamsk, Bezernyak, Chaykowski: creation of aquarelles.
1975 She was awarded a commemorative medal for the participation of Republican Artists' Exhibition “Soviet Russia”.
1977 She was awarded a commemorative medal for the participation of Republican Artists' Exhibition dedicated to the “60th Years of Great October”.
A trip to Spain.
1978 She was awarded a commemorative medal of Moscow Regional Artists' Union of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic for the active participation of work done in the Artists' House in 1977-1978.
She was awarded a medal “Veteran of Labour”.
1979 She was awarded an honorary certificate of the Union Artists of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic for the active and seminal work in Council of Artists’ House.
Creative trip to Italy.
Creation of a series of etudes.
She was awarded an Honorary Certificate of Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries for the longstanding active participation of the promotion and strengthening of friendly relationships between the Soviet Union society and Sri Lanka and for the creation of 20-years society “USSR-Sri Lanka”.
She was awarded a medal of memorial pin for the 60-years of ASSR and the formation of Communist party of Armenia.
1981 A trip to Goryachi Klyuch with the creative group of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Union of Artists: creation of a series of landscape paintings and portraits.
